“Two years ago, a committed group of parents and teachers initiated the Millbrook FIRST Robotics club.

With the world transforming, robotics is a critical part of our future and the Millbrook Robotics team – GearCats (Team 6500) are providing students an opportunity to learn how to program and develop mechanical and electrical systems that propelled our robot into State Competitions last year. Being part of Robotics and FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a great opportunity. In 2018 FIRST Robotics Competitions included 3,600 teams with 90,000 students and mentors competing in 160 worldwide events! This is a wonderful opportunity for our kids! Participation is proven to encourage students to pursue education and careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math)-related fields and inspire them to become leaders and innovators. Through FIRST, students develop valuable, real-world skills applicable to all career choices and outcomes. In addition, FIRST partners with ~200 Scholarship Providers with ~$80 million dollars in available scholarships for 2018. This is a wonderful opportunity, but the team must have funds to register, compete, and preform outreach activities. Any funds received support this great cause.”
