The Hartford, WI Police Explorer Post 9910 is for young men and women ages 14-21 who wish to learn more about law enforcement. This is achieved by a partnership through local law enforcement agencies and Learning For Life. Explorers train by hands-on scenarios including but not limited to traffic stops, crime scene investigation, and Disturbance Resolution. They also volunteer their own time in local, regional, and worldwide events, and compete against other explorer posts in municipal, state, and federal competitions across the country. Explorers leave the program with not only a better idea of policing in their area, but also a better understanding of how government works at a local level.
What sets Hartford’s Explorer Post apart from others is the fact that we operate completely outside of the City of Hartford’s budget for the Police Department, making the entire program completely cost-free to the individual taxpayer! The program relies on its members completing fundraisers such as this, as well as annual membership dues.
Funds from this gift as well as the candle fundraiser we’re currently running will be used by the Hartford Police Explorers in their July 2018 trip to the National Law Enforcement Exploring Conference held at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana! This also offsets personal costs to explorers and their families in areas such as competitions, volunteering, and annual membership dues.
